Day 2: Stone Town walking tour
Morning walking tour with a local historian - Old Fort, House of Wonders, Anglican Cathedral, slave-market chambers, spice market and Freddie Mercury's birthplace. Free afternoon. Sunset from Forodhani Gardens.

Day 3: Spice plantation, transfer north-east
Morning spice-plantation tour with a Swahili village lunch. Afternoon transfer to the north-east coast; check in by mid-afternoon and settle onto the beach.

Day 4: Mnemba Atoll snorkel
Early departure by dhow to Mnemba Atoll for a half-day snorkelling session - usually turtles, always reef fish, sometimes a resident pod of dolphins. Back on the beach for lunch. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 5: Beach, free day
A proper free day. Optional extras include a kitesurfing lesson at Paje, a village bicycle tour, or a second Mnemba trip. Most guests just stay on the beach.

Day 6: Jozani Forest morning, sunset dhow
Morning drive south to Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park for a guided walk with a park ranger - Zanzibar red colobus monkeys, sykes' monkeys, and the mangrove boardwalk. Return by mid-afternoon. Sunset dhow cruise from Kendwa.

Day 7: Beach, second free day
