Morning: Drive to Tarangire
Pickup from Arusha at 06:30 and 2.5-hour drive south-west via Makuyuni and the Manyara escarpment to Kwakuchinja gate.

Late morning: River circuit game drive
Enter the park and follow the Tarangire River loop for elephant herds, lion, giraffe, impala and baboon.

Full picnic lunch at the Tarangire River picnic site under an enormous fig tree.

Afternoon: Baobab country & Silale Swamp
Drive south through baobab-and-tamarind country toward the Silale Swamp for buffalo, giraffe, gerenuk and waterbirds.
