Day 1: Arrive Mafia Island
Meet on arrival at Mafia Airport. Short transfer (roughly 20 minutes) to your lodge at Utende, on the edge of Chole Bay. Reef briefing, welcome dinner and an early night. If arrival is early enough, an orientation swim on the house reef.

Day 2: Chole Bay snorkelling and reef drift
Full day on the water. Morning drift snorkel on the outer reef with a marine-park guide; afternoon on a shallower coral garden inside the bay. Lunch on the boat. Turtles, reef sharks and a resident pod of dolphins are regularly seen.

Day 3: Whale shark day (season) / dive day (off-season)
In whale-shark season (October to February) we run a north-coast in-water excursion in the morning; the animals feed at the surface and swimmers enter in small groups. Off-season, day three is a scheduled dive day for certified divers or a Chumbe-style snorkel day for non-divers.

Day 4: Chole Island cultural half-day
Short dhow crossing to Chole Island. Guided walk through the 19th-century Swahili ruins under the giant baobabs and mango trees, visit the boat-builder's yard and the small women's cooperative. Afternoon on the beach.

Day 5: Free day, optional dive or fishing
A proper rest day. Optional extras include a second dive, a hand-line fishing trip with a local captain, or a village bicycle tour. Sunset on the western shore.

Day 6: Departure
Breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Mafia Airport for your scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.
