Safari Overview

7-Day Northern Circuit Safari

Seven days is the right length for a comprehensive Northern Circuit safari. It allows for proper time in all four flagship parks, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, without the punishing back-to-back transit days that a shorter itinerary requires. You sleep two nights in the Serengeti, one on the Ngorongoro rim, and one or two nights in Karatu, with a single starting and finishing transfer from Arusha.

The itinerary opens with Tarangire on day one, the easy introduction park, with its elephant herds, baobabs and Tarangire River. Day two is Lake Manyara, a small but beautiful Rift Valley lake whose forested groundwater shoreline is home to large troops of baboons and the famous tree-climbing lions. The drive between these two and the highland farm-town of Karatu is one of the most scenic on the circuit.

Days three to five are the heart of the trip in the Serengeti, driving in from Naabi Hill on day three, a full day at Seronera on day four, and a long transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater on day five. With two consecutive nights in the central Serengeti, your guide can dedicate a full day to following a specific lion pride, leopard sighting or migration moment rather than driving towards the next overnight.

The final two days bring you to the Ngorongoro Crater for a full descent on day six and an optional cultural visit on day seven before the drive back to Arusha. The Maasai engagement is genuine, a working boma, not a performance, and the option to skip it for an extra game drive is yours.
