6-Day Wildebeest Migration Safari

Day 1: Arusha → Tarangire
Pickup from Arusha and drive to Tarangire for an afternoon game drive. The river circuit holds the densest elephant population in northern Tanzania during dry season. Overnight at a tented camp on the park's southern boundary.

Day 2: Tarangire → Lake Manyara → Karatu
Morning game drive in Lake Manyara, tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, and flamingos on the alkaline lake when water levels are right. Continue up to Karatu for overnight on the Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater → Serengeti
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive on the caldera floor, lion, elephant, hippo, and a real chance of rhino. Ascend at lunch and continue west, descending onto the Serengeti plain in the late afternoon. The exact camp depends on the month and the location of the herds.

Day 4: Serengeti, following the migration
Full day in the migration zone. In January-March we are usually in the Ndutu short-grass plains for the calving, wildebeest dropping calves on the open plain and the predators that follow them. In May-July we follow the long march through the western corridor. In August-October we position for the Mara River crossings at Kogatende. Your guide moves with the herds throughout the day.

Day 5: Serengeti
Second full day with the migration. Optional pre-dawn balloon safari with champagne breakfast on the plain. The combination of two consecutive days in the same area dramatically increases the chance of catching a specific moment, a calving event, a Mara crossing, or a lion ambush at first light.

Day 6: Serengeti → Arusha
Final morning game drive. Either drive back to Arusha through the central corridor (long, full day in the vehicle) or take an optional Seronera-Arusha scheduled flight, freeing the morning for a leisurely final game drive and putting you back in Arusha by lunchtime. We will quote both options.
