5-Day Mahale Chimpanzee Safari

Day 1: Fly to Mahale
Morning scheduled flight from Arusha to Mahale via Ruaha and Katavi, roughly four hours total. Boat transfer from Mahale airstrip south to your lodge, lunch on arrival. Afternoon at leisure with a snorkel or kayak.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking (day 1)
Early breakfast, then depart on foot with your guide. Trackers radio the M-group's position and you walk in. One hour with the chimps once found. Return for lunch at the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking (day 2)
Second chimp trek at first light. Late brunch and afternoon at leisure on the beach with a dhow sundowner across the lake.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking (day 3) or forest walk
Optional third trek, or a guided lower-altitude forest walk focused on other primates and birds. Afternoon kayak or snorkel.

Day 5: Depart Mahale
Morning beach walk. Boat transfer to the airstrip and scheduled flight back to Arusha via Katavi and Ruaha. On arrival you are met and transferred to the Hilltop Hotel for your final night.
