4-Day Zanzibar Beach Escape

Three nights on Zanzibar's east coast is the ideal post-safari decompression. After a week in the bush, early mornings, long drives, the constant low hum of a Land Cruiser, the east-coast beaches deliver the exact opposite: white sand, warm water, no schedule, and a hammock under a coconut palm. We send most safari guests onwards to a property in Matemwe, Pongwe or Kizimkazi depending on season and preference.

The east coast is protected by a coral reef roughly 500 metres offshore, which creates a shallow, sheltered lagoon perfect for swimming and snorkelling at high tide. At low tide the reef exposes itself and seaweed farmers walk out to tend their plots, a quiet, working part of Zanzibari coastal life. Each of the properties we recommend has direct beach access, a swimming pool for low-tide afternoons, and a kitchen that takes Swahili coastal cuisine seriously.

The four-day itinerary is intentionally unstructured. We include arrival and departure transfers and a welcome dinner; everything else, Stone Town day trip, sunset dhow, Mnemba Atoll snorkelling, kitesurfing lesson at Paje, spice farm tour, is optional and bookable on the ground.

This package is sold either as a stand-alone (for guests flying into Zanzibar directly) or as a safari extension (for guests transferring from the Serengeti or Arusha). Internal flights are quoted separately.
