4-Day Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountains Safari

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi
Morning transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park (four to five hours by road, or SGR train to Morogoro plus road transfer). Lunch at the lodge on the park edge, then an afternoon game drive on the Mkata plains in search of elephant, lion, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and eland. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-day game drive in Mikumi
Full day inside Mikumi with a packed lunch, working the Mkata Floodplain, the Hippo Pool, Chamgore riverine woodland and the Mwanambogo Dam. Watch for tree-climbing lion, leopard, and vast herds of buffalo and giraffe. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Udzungwa and Sanje Waterfall hike
After breakfast, transfer south to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (approximately two to three hours). Meet your park ranger at the gate and set off on the Sanje Waterfall trail, a five to six hour guided round trip through montane rainforest to a 170-metre triple-cascade waterfall with a swimming pool at the base. Watch for Iringa red colobus, Sanje mangabey and a wealth of forest birdlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Return to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, either take a shorter Udzungwa forest walk of two to three hours, or begin the return drive early. Transfer back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the late afternoon in time for onward flights or a Zanzibar/Mafia extension.
