Predators Panorama: Seronera Day Safari

Seronera is the geographical and ecological centre of the Serengeti, a stretch of open acacia woodland and kopjes on either side of the Seronera River that consistently ranks as one of the best places on earth to see big cats. Lion prides are large and well established; leopards live in the sausage trees along the river and are seen almost daily; and cheetah patrol the plains just south. In the wet season (December to April) the migration herds pass directly through Seronera on their move to the southern short-grass plains, and the predator action peaks.

This day trip is designed for guests who want a taste of the Serengeti but do not have time for a full multi-day itinerary. You fly from Arusha to Seronera airstrip in the morning (a scenic hour over the Rift Valley wall), land in the middle of the park, and are met by our safari vehicle for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch.

Depending on the season, the drive follows either the Seronera River circuit for leopard, lion and elephant; the kopjes south of Seronera for cheetah and rock hyrax; or the wider plains if the migration is passing through. Your guide has all day to work the sightings, and because you are already at the heart of the park you avoid the long transit that a road-based day trip would require.

You return to Seronera airstrip in the late afternoon for the flight back to Arusha, landing in time for dinner. It is the fastest, most efficient way to fit a proper Serengeti day into a short trip.
