Safari Overview

3-Day Tanzania Safari

Three days is the practical minimum for an itinerary that reaches the Serengeti by road. The route is a classic loop: Tarangire on day one, central Serengeti on day two, and the Ngorongoro Crater on day three before the long drive back to Arusha. It is busy but extraordinarily rewarding, three of Tanzania's signature ecosystems in seventy-two hours, with proper game-viewing time built into every day rather than rushed transits.

Day one takes you south from Arusha into Tarangire National Park, where the dry-season concentrations of elephant, zebra, wildebeest and Cape buffalo are concentrated along the Tarangire River. You overnight in the highland farming town of Karatu, sleeping at altitude on the lip of the Rift Valley.

Day two is the long, scenic drive west across the highland farms and down onto the Serengeti plain. You enter the park at Naabi Hill and game-view through Seronera, the heart of the central Serengeti, where the river attracts a permanent resident population of lion and the highest concentration of leopard in the park. You sleep inside the Serengeti at a tented camp or seasonal mobile camp.

Day three is a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, then a transfer east to the Ngorongoro Crater for an afternoon descent and a few hours on the caldera floor before the climb out and the drive back to Arusha. It is a long final day, and we balance it with a proper sit-down lunch and a sunset stop at the crater viewpoint.
